Test cable and display before soldering
HDMI and USB-C faults can be caused by cable, monitor, TV input, driver, dock, resolution or the port itself. Before port replacement, we test with known-good cable, another screen or another accessory when relevant.
USB-C can fail in several ways
USB-C may carry charging, data, display and docking. Tell us whether the port fails on everything, or only on an external monitor, drive, charger or dock. That decides whether this page or charging-port repair is the better match.
When the port should be checked quickly
Bring the device in if the port is loose, bent, hot, corroded, visibly damaged, or accessories disconnect when the cable moves. Continued use can damage solder joints, daughterboards or the motherboard further.
